  The Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music presents the premiere of The Prisoner, a newly commissioned work for voice and orchestra, featuring Jonathan Lemalu, bass-baritone and festival music director and conductor Cristian Macelaru. The piece is a rumination on the life and death of Adnan Latif, one of the first prisoners in Guantanamo, who died in custody in 2012. The work features excerpts from Latif's letters and poetry by Rumi and Rilke.
